There are 3 seasons in Ely..last winter, this winter,
next winter. It has been cold and windy. today looks June 11, 2008
The White Pine Friends of the National Rifle Association donated $5,770 to the Steptoe Valley Raiders, a local cowboy shooting society. The Friends of NRA, which is a non-political organization that supports many programs of the NRA, has raised funds and obtained grants to support gun safety and shooting sports programs of 4-H, Boy Scouts and other local groups. White Pine Friends of the NRA also donated $7,700 to the White Pine County 4-H Shooting Sports program. From left are Mel Anderson, Ray Mix, Carol Love, Steptoe Valley Raiders President Tom Love, Friends of NRA Committee Chairman Clyde Drake (presenting the check to Tom Love), Pete Mangum and Jesse Murdock. White Pine County "Friends of NRA" (National Rifle Association) will be hosting their annual fundraiser Saturday, June 14, at the Bristlecone Convention Center in Ely, Nevada, starting at 6 p.m. Dinner is $40.00 per person. Tickets will be on sale for many prizes, including rifles and guns. For information call Clyde Drake, chairman, 775-289-2653. The May shoot saw a new winner. Utah Red (aka
Adam Crowther) won with ( alittle luck) July 11, 2008
Hi Steptoe Valley Raiders! All our targets are here. Cheyenne Kid and
Wicked Lil went
to Chatsworth, Calif. June 26 and picked them up. It would have been
$800.00 in shipping, but picking them up was less than $300.00 in fuel
(mainly because we got to supplement with bio-diesel at half the price
of diesel at the pump). (Also, thanks again to our Territorial
Governor, Smokey, for his donation toward gas.) We haven't heard
anything from him to confirm the clinic he was going to do on the
Range Officer class. He could be quite busy assisting with the fires
in California!)
The bird thrower is really cute. We tried it out last weekend. That
makes 4 double shotgun targets.
Deadwood Dick (Ray Mix) has graciously donated 1st and 2nd place
trophies for Men's Division and Women's Division for the July
26th shoot. We need some lady shooters out there!! Are you gonna let
ole Wicked Lil just walk away with the trophies?? Come on out!!
It will be a busy weekend. Lots of activities. The Senior Game will be
going on, also. Their shoot will be at the range also, as
last year. Us "older" folks got to compete with them and
Cheyenne Kid and Wicked Lil won their divisions there. So if you're
"old enough" to play, stay.
Good Shooting, Wicked Lil
