Roop County Days - September 2007

Story and Pictures by Carson Kate

Well another Roop County Days behind us.  This 3 days event is a lot of fun, and everyone who attended had a great time.  Always fun to get together with your shooting friends and have time to visit.

A few of us went out Wednesday to set up camp.  More came in Thursday, Friday and a few Saturday morning.
I would figure we had at least 30 camping (just a guess).  From trailers to tents a little bit of everything.

Thursday morning some of the guys went up and helped set-up the range.

After we sat around and did some visiting.

In the evening we sat around the camp fire and visiting some more.

The weather was nice and not too cold at that time.

Friday morning we had side matches. Don't have the results of them, but Sagebrush Sam won 1st for long range pistol and also 1st for long range rifle pistol caliber.

From what I understand I heard Denio took 1st in Speed Shotgun (w/double).  Reno Slim took 1st in 3 different categories one I believe was Speed Shotgun with a 97 and I don't know the others.  CC Dollar took 1st Speed Shotgun with an 87.  I believe El Rod took 1st in Single Shot Long Range.  JJ I believe won Speed Pistol.  I don't have pictures of any of these shooting or awards.

While we were visiting, Ike wore several hats, depending on how he felt.  This one he also wore when he was shooting a few stages.

That evening we had wind and rain, but no snow down where we were.  All around us there was some.  I sure felt sorry for all the ones in tents.

That evening we had our pot luck where a lot of people brought food into the building to eat.

We also had a little entertainment by Alma and Jeff (Sam's mom and friend) on the guitar and singing.  We really enjoyed having them.

We had 3 posse's

and great posse leaders, who as usual did a good job. Saturday we shot 8 stages and Sunday we shot 3 stages. On Saturday and Sunday morning the Boy Scouts cooked breakfast for us and raised the flag

The breakfast was great as usual both days.

Our shooters were all in good form, as the weather was nice and really no wind until later in the day.

One of our shooter was not so nice, he make a crippled man push his gun cart in exchange for letting him put his guns there.

Boy some people will resort to anything not to exhaust themselves.

On Saturday we broke for lunch and had a nice lunch prepared by the Boys Scouts

After lunch we returned to our bay and finished shooting (I think 3 more stages).

That evening we had our annual banquet.  Quinn River cooked the meat, which was excellent and everyone brought a dish.

Weather was cold at night, but inside the building it wasn't so bad.

Sunday morning after breakfast and raising the flag, we finished our 3 stages and then had the awards passed out.

Turquoise carries a belt of turquoise bullets and hat band, boots, belt buckle and almost anything.  Sure looks good.

Well, that is about all.  I hope I didn't miss anyone.  I have a LOT MORE pictures, but Hick doesn't really have room for them all so I just put a few of the dinners and campfire in.
